DIVINE INTERVENTION, THE MESSAGE

DO YOU BELIEVE?

What is Divine Intervention?

Divine Intervention is when God intervenes in the affairs of us humans.

For believers, intervention can come in many forms such as miracles, or even angels in disguise as normal people.

Christians believe that God is interested in our lives enough to intervene when we have a need. In fact, the Bible says …our Father  (God) knows our needs before we even ask him. ( Matt 6:8)

God knows the need before we ask Divine Intervention

So…Our Heavenly Father knows our need BEFORE we ask Him? That’s what the Word says!  Our God knows all things, even our needs before we ask Him! What a comfort to know that God is working on our needs before we even bring our prayers to Him.

This is a story of my own family’s Divine Intervention.  God knew my husband and his siblings had a great “need” even before they knew it themselves. God in His infinite wisdom, knew the need and started working on the answer to their prayers years before, and made sure His answer would arrive at the precise moment it was needed.

The Message

A Get-Well-Soon card was sent from the staff at the Shady Lawn nursing home to Estelle Ramsey, who was in a room in the Intensive Care Unit at Heartland Hospital. Estelle had worked at  Shady Lawn for many years, and eventually became a resident at the home. Estelle passed away in that hospital room. The card somehow slipped between the heat vent and the wall, disappearing, unnoticed and unopened. The message had been sent.

Over thirteen years later, Twyla Lance, Estelle’s daughter (known to everyone as Tidy), is in the same hospital, on the third floor. She had also worked at Shady Lawn and knew many of the staff who had signed the card for Estelle. Tidy’s health is failing quickly. She is getting ready to meet Jesus, but her family is having a hard time knowing the right thing to do.  Are they supposed to let go, or try to hold on to her for a while longer? They pray for an answer to this difficult question.

Two floors below, a maintenance worker for the hospital is doing some remodeling work in the room Estelle was in. He removes a panel and finds the card. He gives it to the nursing staff at their station right outside the door of the room. They wonder at the card and how long ago it had been sent. They lay it on the counter and go about their work.

The card is noticed by Kim Pryor, another hospital employee and a friend of the Lance family, as she is walking by. She recognizes the name on the card and she is asked by the women at their station if Estelle Ramsey is still alive. Kim tells them, no, but her daughter is in a room on the third floor.

They start up to the third floor to give the card to a family member. In the elevator, they recognized Donna, Estelle’s granddaughter-Tidy’s daughter. They give her the card, telling her how it had just been found.

The card is brought to Tidy’s room, and in disbelief, is opened by Tidy’s sister, Phyllis Berg, who is surrounded by other members of the family. There is no question of this being just a coincidence. This was the answer they had prayed for: this was truly an act of God. Estelle was reaching out to take Tidy’s hand. She was telling her it was time to come home. The message had been received.

The postmark on the envelope was dated August 26, 1992. The card arrived on January 17, 2006. With the grace of God, it was right on time.

envelope post marked divine intervention

As a footnote, the maintenance worker who found the card is the son of the people who bought the house owned by Tidy’s sister Phyllis, when she and her husband moved to Springfield, MO.

This account of The Message was written by my brother-in-law, Tidy’s son, Bob.

God Lined Up Many Agents

God used so many agents to bring peace to our family that day. He carefully lined up the events and the people to deliver the answer to my family’s prayers.

God used the staff at the nursing home who signed and sent the card to Estelle, the maintenance worker that found the card, and the family friend who also worked at the hospital that recognized the name on the card! The family and friends involved in this story were all from a different town than the hospital, but God put them all at the right place at the right time to deliver The Message that was the answer to their prayers.

God will answer while we are yet speaking

A Coincidence?

Was this an answered prayer? Divine Intervention?

Or a coincidence?

We believe it was an answered prayer!

Divine Intervention. God knew our need before we knew we even had one. He intervened in the lives of His children and provided the answer to their prayers.

I love how God moves in our lives. If we would only relax and let God we would all be so much better off.

I agree Victoria, it’s hard to do sometimes, but we really would be better off.

I truly believe in divine intervention and divine order. God with his infinite power could have done this in a much more streamlined way, but I have noticed that when He intervenes, he does so in a way that there is no mistake that He has had his hand in the mix. As Christians, it is unmistakable when He has worked it out. This is a lovely story. I have popped over from #TheBloggingGrandmothersLinkParty and shared.

Thanks Clearissa, I think you are correct. God could just wave His hand and do whatever, but he works it out so we have no doubt that He was in control!

Thank you for this post. No coincidence here, just God doing His thing of loving and providing for our needs, as you mentioned He knows before we do.

This is beautiful! What peace and comfort lay at hand to those who believe that Our Lord knows what we need and generously provides! I have seen instances in my own family and cherish each one of them. Death is nothing to fear!
