The King of the World
Who is this that the wind and waves obey Him? He is the KING of the World!
KING OF THE WORLD?
He is the King of the World! What a tremendous title, one that I struggle to fully understand.
Life is so hectic. We spend so much time just trying to get by. Many times, my life just spins out of control and I forget. I try to “take life back right out of the hands of the King of the World.”
This song represents my heart. I have known God for most of my life, and yet, I still try to run things, thinking I am smart enough to do it on my own instead of trusting the King of the World.
I have sat under 100s, maybe 1000s of teachings about the magnitude of this God we serve, and still, it’s hard to comprehend. God created us, the earth, and ALL that there is! , and yet I often think I am smart enough to take the lead in my little life instead of letting the King of the world lead me. I think I know so much, and then I see I don’t.
I know what the Bible tells us
I know what the Bible tells us, and I try to understand God on my level. What a silly notion! The idea that I can bring Him to my level is absurd, but what do we compare Him to? Humans only know humans! This bigger than life God that we worship is beyond anything that we know. Isaiah 40:18 says “To whom can you compare God? What image can you find to resemble him?
The Lord Has No Equal
” Who else has held the oceans in his hand?
Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers?
Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale?”
Isaiah 40:12
God gave us humans inquiring minds, the ability to question, and study. In fact, He tells us to study to show ourselves approved. My mind naturally tries to size up God, in an attempt to understand Him fully. But the immensity of our Heavenly Father is beyond anything I know to compare Him to. Who else can do the things our God does?
So I Pray to God
I pray to God, handing over my problems, and needs to Him. I place it all in His hands, surrendering those needs to the King of the World for about 25 seconds before I’m worried about them again. How soon I forget that the King of the World has it all under control! Just moments after the AMEN I’m taking it all back.
You know the drill, it goes something like this:
“Heavenly Father, I am asking for your help, your favor, and blessing…amen”…and then I start trying to figure out how He will take care of it.
Or
“Lord I need…Lord, I need a change in these circumstances…Lord, I come to you with this need…Lord, I am placing this in your hands.”
“But Lord, If you could make this or that happen, then….and my prayers would be answered.”
Or worst of all
“Thank you, Lord, I am giving it all to you, but, I am gonna need to continue to worry about it while I figure it out.”
Sometimes I laugh at myself, for my lack of trust. God doesn’t need any ideas from me. He does not need my input. This is not how it is supposed to work.
God is in Control
God is in control, He’s got this! He doesn’t need our input. Our worrying does not help God in any way! He is the King of the World! God does not need my advice about how He can provide for my needs. I know in my heart, He has the answers, and they are far better than what I could even imagine.
He does not need my advice
13 Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord?a]
Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him?
14 Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice?
Does he need instruction about what is good?
Did someone teach him what is right
or show him the path of justice?Isaiah 40:13-14
God deals with the Impossible
Are we limiting what God can do in our lives when we have expectations that fit into the tiny boxes we design? Our faith becomes limited and we hesitate to believe for the “impossible”. We ask, or expect what we deem as “possible” according to our own understanding because we are just humans. The scripture tells us to trust God and to not lean on our own understanding.
But God is the King of the World and He deals within the “Impossible”!
The scriptures tell us what is impossible to us, is possible with God.
And he (Jesus) said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
Luke 18:27
It Takes Practice
It takes practice and faith to fully trust God and not depend on our own understanding. When we stop trying to bring him down to our level and trust that He has a plan that is beyond our understanding, we begin to see His infinite wisdom and miracle working powers.
God has Big Hands
God has big hands. Isaiah 40:20 says He holds the oceans in His hand! What? Did that say “hand”? One hand! Not “hands” with an “s”! If God is big enough to hold the oceans of this world in ONE hand, then He certainly is big enough to hold me and my little life in his hand. That is mind blowing, to say the least!
Our Heavenly Father has Us in Mind
Our Heavenly Father has us in mind before we were even born He knew us. He knew what we were going to need to get through this life and He was already working to supply our needs. Often I think, God! you just provided for that need out of nowhere! I think He does that to remind us that He is God and we are not! Why? Maybe because His ways are better than I can even imagine!
God Loves Us So Much
We can’t fully understand the immensity of God, but we don’t have to. What we do need to understand is that God loves us so much, not because we deserve it, but because He IS love! Our human ability to understand this type of unconditional love is limited. But God’s love is infinite and unlimited. Because God loves us with a never-ending love, He wants us to benefit from and inherit all the good He has for us.
God knows us personally and He made each one of us special. His desire is to have a personal relationship with each of us.
It’s so hard to comprehend that God loves me and will never leave me. He has called me to come to him through Jesus so I can have eternal life with the King of the World.
Heavenly Father,
help us to remember you have Always been the King of the World
the King of the World
and that you’ve got this!
Help us to trust that you never get weary
and you never get it wrong!
And Father,
I thank you that you love me enough
to hear my prayers even when my faith is failing
that you hold me in your hands and
Thank you for being the King of the World.
