Pictures of Pumpkin Succulent Planters landed in my messages last week. A relative of mine sent some pictures of a project she had done and she was certain it was something I would like. Boy, was she right!
She attended a class where they made Pumpkin Succulent Planters. The pumpkins were freshly harvested and the succulents were cuttings from live plants. They were gorgeous!
Here are some pumpkins she was working on.
Living Centerpiece
These planters can last for months. The moss and succulents can be sprayed or misted with water occasionally and I have read that the plants will actually root while hot glued to the moss!
Here is a supply list for a living centerpiece.
After the pumpkin dies, the plants can be planted outdoors or in pots.
No Room in the RV!
So most of you know Hubby and I have retired and we live in our 5th wheel camper at the beach. I love the idea of those succulents rooting and being able to transplant the cuttings into pots, but when the weather turns cold, there is no room at the Inn. During the summer months, I always buy flowers and potted plants and sit around outdoors. But there is just no room for them inside the camper.
Artificial Centerpiece?
I loved this project so much I decided to see if I could reproduce it with artificial pumpkins and succulents. So I gathered up some supplies and made one! The supplies are basically the same, only you use plastic or foam pumpkins, and artificial succulents.
Here is my version.
You can watch me make it in the video below.
I think it turned out pretty good! I can use this for a fall centerpiece and store it when I am not using it!
Its that time of year again and that means I will be crafting! Stay tuned for lots of holiday projects!
