Daffodils Bring Hope
Hello Everyone! I hope your Easter weekend was full of peace and grace. My weekend was spent at home with my hubby, except for a little drive we took in the country. I love this time of year when the daffodils begin to bloom. Daffodils bring hope. Hope that the winter is over, and warmer days are ahead. Daffodils bring hope that nature is waking up. They bring fresh new color to the drab of winter.
A Break from the Virus
We have been strictly self-quarantining, but I have been staying busy making masks for my daughters and their people. One daughter is a PRN Nurse that works at a hospital and nursing home in a small town. They have a critical need for masks at both facilities. I have another daughter that is a Police Officer in a different small Louisiana town. Her police department also needs masks.
I know, I know, we have all heard how homemade masks don’t keep you from getting the virus. But the new CDC guidelines say that homemade masks are better than nothing. Our healthcare workers are taking a beating in Louisiana. The despair is heartbreaking and it feels good to help.
Hubby decided that I needed to take a break from sewing and get some much-needed sunshine. I love that man.
Our drive through the country took us by several sites that were bursting with beautiful clumps of golden daffodils. It made my heart smile and it reminded me that the winter crisis of 2020 was almost behind us and new beginnings were on the way.
My Favorite Flower
Daffodils are my favorite flowers. My soul is usually craving flowers by the time daffodils make their grand appearance. They are one of the earliest flowers to bloom in the spring and will push up through the snow at the first hint of sunshine. I adore them. Daffodils are the March flower. My birthday is in March and several times throughout my life I have had birthday cakes decorated with Daffodils. (Thanks Suzie, precious memories).
